Emergency First Aid at Work

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course provides learners with the skills and knowledge to provide treatment to their casualties in a safe, prompt and effective manner until further medical help arrives. This qualification is valid for 3 years. 

What will I learn on this 1 day course?​

  • ​Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider

  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally (CPR) 

  • How to manage a casualty who is in shock

  • How to assess an incident

  • How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking

  • How to manage a casualty with a minor injury

  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally

  • How to manage a casualty with external bleeding

Emergency Paediatric First Aid 

The Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is specifically aimed at those who work with babies and infant but is also a great skill to have if you have young children in your care. This first aid course equips you with how to deal with emergency medical situations until further medical assistance arrives.

Baby and infant CPR is included in this course and is valid for 3 years. 

 

What will I learn on this 1 day course?​

  • Understanding the role of the paediatric first aider

  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally

  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock

  • How to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively

  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction

  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally

  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is wounded and bleeding

First Aid at Work

The full First Aid at Work course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, providing the candidate with the knowledge to deal with emergency situations with confidence and in a prompt and safe way. In addition, you will learn about any protocol changes that may have been updated since your last qualification. 

This course will give the candidates a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This qualification is valid for 3 years.

  • Heart attacks

  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

  • Fractures and spinal injuries

  • Choking

  • Control of bleeding

  • Chest injuries

  • Diabetes

  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)

  • Asthma

  • Stroke

  • Burns

  • Epilepsy

  • Resuscitation
